"This was not enforcement. It was state-sanctioned cruelty, unleashed on a family without warning, without cause, and without conscience. The government must answer for the trauma it inflicts on children."
"The agents smashed one of the vehicle's windows, pulled out a man, and slammed him into the pavement as his family watched in distress. The family sued federal officials this week, alleging ICE used excessive force to brutalize the man and traumatize his family."
"The incident occurred on May 11, 2025, as ICE agents swept through Massachusetts in a monthlong surge dubbed Operation Patriot. Officials later said that they detained close to 1,500 people during the operation."
A Chelsea family filed a federal lawsuit against ICE agents for alleged excessive force during a Mother's Day traffic stop. Agents smashed the vehicle's window, forcibly removed Daniel Flores Martinez, and slammed him onto the pavement while his wife, three children, and the children's grandmother witnessed the incident. The lawsuit, filed by Lawyers for Civil Rights, alleges the agents used brutality to traumatize the family without warning or cause. The incident occurred during Operation Patriot, a monthlong ICE enforcement surge in Massachusetts that resulted in approximately 1,500 detentions. The family had previously filed an administrative complaint in June, which is a required precursor to litigation. Flores Martinez now resides in Mexico, while his wife and children, all U.S. citizens, remain in the United States.
