Trump Administration Strips Harvard's SEVIS Certification
Briefly

The Trump administration, amid a legal battle with Harvard University, has revoked the institution's authorization to host international students. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stated this action holds Harvard accountable for promoting violence and antisemitism and collaborating with the Chinese Communist Party. Noem emphasized that hosting foreign students is a privilege contingent upon adherence to laws. In response, Harvard called the decision unlawful and expressed its commitment to maintaining international student enrollment, arguing that the action endangers both the university community and national interests.
This administration is holding Harvard accountable for fostering violence, antisemitism, and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party on its campus. It is a privilege, not a right, for universities to enroll foreign students and benefit from their higher tuition payments to help pad their multibillion-dollar endowments.
We are fully committed to maintaining Harvard's ability to host international students and scholars, who hail from more than 140 countries and enrich the University-and this nation-immeasurably. This retaliatory action threatens serious harm to the Harvard community and our country, and undermines Harvard's academic and research mission.
