International students, especially from China, constitute over 25% of Harvard's population. Following Trump's temporary ban on foreign students, China's government urged against politicizing education. Harvard has responded by suing the administration. Concurrently, Hong Kong University extended offers to welcome Harvard students, highlighting resources available for their academic journeys. Concerns from parents regarding study options have risen as families reassess after the U.S. policy shift.
"China-U.S. cooperation in education benefits both sides," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a news briefing Friday.
"We are prepared to welcome Harvard students into our community, offering them the resources and vibrant environment needed to thrive in their fields," Guo Yike, the provost of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, said in a statement.
