A U.S. armored vehicle missing in Lithuania has been retrieved from a swamp after six days of searching. Lithuanian officials confirmed the vehicle was found submerged during a training exercise at the General Silvestras Kukauskas training ground. While the Lithuanian Defense Minister has assured that both Lithuanian Military Police and U.S. investigators are involved, there is still uncertainty regarding the four American soldiers who were aboard the vehicle when it went missing. The area around Pabrad has been challenging for recovery efforts due to thick mud and poor terrain.
The armored vehicle was pulled ashore at 4:40 a.m., the towing operation is complete. Lithuanian Military Police and US investigators continue their work.
Hundreds of Lithuanian and U.S. soldiers and rescuers took part in the search through the thick forests and swampy terrain around Pabrad.
