U.S. Higher Ed's Investment in Sustainable Development Lags
Briefly

According to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, U.S. colleges and universities are falling behind their global counterparts in working towards the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Key hindrances include financial and political challenges from the previous administration and a general lack of engagement with sustainability initiatives. While Arizona State University managed to rank sixth globally, many other U.S. institutions dropped out of the top 50 this year. In contrast, several Canadian universities excelled, highlighting the disparity in commitment to sustainability efforts in higher education across countries.

"Seven Canadian universities ranked in the global top 50, while Arizona State University was the only U.S. institution to make it that far."
