With No Phones or Wi-Fi, North Carolina Revives the Town Meeting
Briefly

Residents in Black Mountain, N.C., revitalized the town meeting—an old-fashioned solution—drawing approximately 1,000 people daily to share vital updates as communication lines remained down.
The disrupted lines of communication have compounded those difficulties, making it hard for relief workers to know where people are and what they need.
People have scrawled messages in marker on whiteboards to let their neighbors know how they're doing or what they need, creating a makeshift community hub.
Thank you for your patience while we verify access. Relief efforts began to improve with helicopters providing supplies and clearing blockages to Interstate 40.
