Six days after the hire announcement, Arkansas rescinded the offer citing feedback from external stakeholders about fit. University spokespeople declined to detail the feedback. Representative Nicole Clowney called the rescission a "horrifying, unprecedented and absolutely unconstitutional abuse of state power." Lawmakers reportedly learned Suski had signed a friend-of-the-court brief supporting students challenging state bans on transgender athletes, and some officials cited her signature and perceived views in opposing the hire.
