Donald Trump says European countries will be charged 10pc tariffs 'on any and all goods' until Greenland deal reached

"We have subsidised Denmark, and all of the Countries of the European Union, and others, for many years by not charging them Tariffs, or any other forms of remuneration. Now, after Centuries, it is time for Denmark to give back - World Peace is at stake! China and Russia want Greenland, and there is not a thing that Denmark can do about it. They currently have two dogsleds as protection, one added recently."

"Starting on February 1st, 2026, all of the above mentioned Countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland), will be charged a 10% Tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States of America. On June 1st, 2026, the Tariff will be increased to 25%. This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland."

The United States has subsidised Denmark and European Union countries by not charging tariffs or other remuneration. The United States asserts that Denmark must give back because world peace is at stake, claiming China and Russia desire Greenland and Denmark lacks adequate defense. Denmark's protection is described as two dogsleds, with one added recently. Several European countries have journeyed to Greenland for unspecified purposes, creating a situation described as dangerous to global safety, security, and survival. A 10% tariff on goods from the listed countries begins February 1, 2026, rising to 25% on June 1, 2026, and will remain until Greenland is sold to the United States.
