Elon Musk recently proposed an investigation into the wealth of Democratic lawmakers, questioning how some, including known figures like Rep. Maxine Waters and Senator Chuck Schumer, achieve millionaire status while officially earning around $200,000 annually. During a town hall meeting in Wisconsin, he discussed the convoluted financial pathways involving taxpayer money, government organizations, and NGOs, which he suggests allow funds to be redirected back to wealthy politicians. His concern stems from perceptions of corruption and a desire to understand and potentially act against what he sees as systemic financial discrepancies among lawmakers.
Yeah. So there is a massive amount of corruption. But it is circuitous. So what happens is there's money that, obviously, it's your taxpayer money that is then sent to various government organizations who then send it to NGOs... But it is a circuitous route.
I'm trying to connect the dots of how do they become rich while earning... How do they get $20 million if they're earning $200,000 a year? It sounds... Nobody can explain that.
