Trump's push to get rid of the filibuster has faced protests from even Republican lawmakers."
"I'm a traditionalist and, you know, I come up here, 60 votes, hey, that sounds great, but we're in a different country, Steve. This is a different time. We just saw what happened in New York. We lost New York. It will be completely Muslim in three or four years. That's what they want. They're gonna have everything free there for them and they're just going to spread throughout the country, said Tuberville."
Senator Tommy Tuberville supported President Trump's effort to eliminate the Senate filibuster, saying the old 60-vote rule no longer applies. During an appearance on Steve Bannon's WarRoom podcast he warned that New York City "will be completely Muslim in three or four years" following Zohran Mamdani's mayoral victory, predicting free services and ideological spread. Zohran Mamdani is Muslim and a self-described democratic socialist who defeated Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa. Tuberville previously said Mamdani should be deported and called for packing him up and sending him home. The push to end the filibuster has drawn protests, including from some Republicans.
