In Oval Office Meeting, Far-Right Activist Pushes Trump to Fire National Security Staff
Briefly

Laura Loomer, a controversial far-right activist known for conspiracy theories, met with President Trump in the Oval Office to recommend the dismissal of National Security Council staff she accused of disloyalty. During the meeting, Loomer presented opposition research against these officials and criticized them directly in front of National Security Adviser Michael Waltz. Despite her extreme rhetoric alienating many on the far right, Trump may heed some of her advice. Loomer previously made headlines for divisive comments and unfounded claims during the Republican primary against Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Loomer walked into the White House with a sheaf of papers, which amounted to a mass of opposition research attacking the characters and loyalty of numerous N.S.C. officials.
Ms. Loomer's rhetoric and actions have been so extreme that she has alienated others even on the far right.
During the Republican primary, Loomer floated the baseless notion that DeSantis's wife had lied about having breast cancer.
The meeting came after a recent string of social media attacks by Loomer on Trump administration officials, including Alex Wong.
