At least nine U.S. international airports declined to run a video from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem that blamed Democrats for the federal government shutdown. Major airports in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle, Phoenix, Cleveland, Charlotte, and Portland refused the request, and some smaller airports followed suit. Officials cited concerns that the partisan messaging could violate the Hatch Act and state law. Oakland officials said there were no checkpoint screens available and that screening and air traffic control services are not expected to be interrupted during the shutdown.
