Trump Says He Supports an End to Daylight Savings Time
Briefly

President-elect Donald J. Trump called daylight saving time "inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation" and pledged that the Republican Party would work towards eliminating it.
While many support Trump's call to end the time changes, it is unlikely that Congress will pass a bill to eliminate daylight saving time permanently, as seen in previous efforts.
The idea behind daylight saving time, which originated in the early 1900s, was to shift sunlight from the morning to the evening to make better use of daylight.
Despite bipartisan efforts to end the clock changes, including a 2022 Senate bill that passed unanimously, all such attempts have failed in Congress.
