United States and South Korea advanced trade talks aimed at a framework involving $350 billion in investments in the American economy. The framework envisions gradual investments, cooperation on shipbuilding, and lowering of U.S. tariffs on South Korean automobile exports, though no agreement was signed. South Korea's president Lee Jae Myung presented gifts including a gold medal and crown to President Donald Trump. Ceremonial elements included U.S.-raised beef on the special menu, a gold-adorned brownie, a band playing "Y.M.C.A.", and a choreographed flag display. Trump praised the spectacle and softened his rhetoric, saying the best deals work for everybody.
