""I'm not really interested in designing buildings that are necessarily ego-driven. We wanted to approach this architecturally for something that fits in.""
""There's no human being on the planet who would have said no to this.""
""We wanted to approach this architecturally for something that fits in.""

550 West 21st Street is a new 22-story condominium in Manhattan's West Chelsea, designed by architect Thomas Juul-Hansen. The project will add 83 residences to an area where new developments have slowed despite strong demand. West Chelsea has transformed from a post-industrial district since the 1990s, aided by the High Line. Juul-Hansen aims to create architecture that integrates with its surroundings rather than stands out, emphasizing restraint in design.
