Leaving Brooklyn, and Downsizing Upstate

Forrest Lewinger and Molly Prentiss, after the birth of their first child in 2018, chose to leave their spacious Brooklyn home for a downsized rental in upstate New York. The couple faced the challenge of relocating after their landlord decided to sell their 3,000-square-foot Victorian. Rather than seek another urban space, they evaluated the benefits of rural living, which promised more room, financial savings, and better lifestyle opportunities, all while maintaining manageable commute times to Manhattan from their new location.
Faced with the prospect of having to find a new home and studio spaces in New York, the couple decided that moving to a rural location upstate might be the better choice for their lifestyle and finances.
Their previous home was this gigantic Victorian... Their rental in Ditmas Park... measured roughly 3,000 square feet, and Ms. Prentiss had a writing studio in the attic.
