Doom: The Dark Ages, the latest entry in the popular Doom franchise, is set to launch on May 15 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Creative director Hugo Martin emphasized that this installment is not the conclusion of the series, but rather a focused effort on the current project. With no multiplayer feature announced, the game draws inspiration from its predecessors, Doom and Doom 2. A collector's edition available for preorder includes early access on May 13, and the game will be a day-one title on Game Pass.
"It isn't designed to be the end of something," said creative director Hugo Martin in a preview event (via PC Gamer). "Genuinely, sincerely, we're really just focused on this right now, but Doom: The Dark Ages isn't a period on the end of a sentence."
While it sounds like id Software isn't currently planning what's next after Doom: The Dark Ages, the studio isn't ruling out more games in the universe, and it's just concentrating on getting its current project out the door first.
