Spider-Man 2, a major exclusive for PlayStation 5, has made its way to PC but not without substantial issues. Since its release on January 30, players report experiencing crashes, freezes, and performance problems, even on high-end systems like the RTX 4090. While the game was developed by Nixxes Software, known for successful porting, current technical challenges have caused frustration among users, prompting many to seek refunds. Despite the negative feedback, some players have still found enjoyment in the game, pointing to varied experiences within the community.
After my excitement to swing through New York City, I ran into significant technical problems with Spider-Man 2 on my RTX 4090. Despite having a high-end GPU and running the latest NVIDIA drivers, the game frequently crashes with graphics controller errors.
Hold off on buying until they get a couple of stabilization patches out because holy hell. To say this is 'rough' is an understatement. Lighting doesn't load in some cutscenes, those same scenes run at seconds-per-frame, audio desync issues up the wazoo, freezing, stuttering, and just about every other performance issue I can think of.
I can't even refund this now because I've spent more time trying to optimize this game than actually playing it. Worst birthday gift ever.
There plenty of players who, while facing their own issues, have still managed to enjoy Spider-Man 2, highlighting that experiences can vary greatly among the player base.
