Overwatch 2 is set to introduce significant changes, but for now, it's addressing issues with its new game mode, Clash. Initially launched in season 12, Clash was designed to provide a dynamic experience combining attacking and defending elements. However, feedback highlighted its unbalanced nature, often resulting in swift, lopsided matches. Blizzard's director Aaron Keller has stated that while they reevaluate Clash for fairness, it will remain available in quickplay, allowing players to continue enjoying it despite its removal from competitive play.
As director Aaron Keller describes it, the mode was inspired by the original hero shooter's two-point capture maps, and was meant to give players a mode in which they could shift rapidly between attacking and defending objectives.
Currently, Clash feels unbalanced compared to other modes, with some matches ending almost as quickly as they begin, rather than allowing players to regroup and strategize.
While the team sorts out what changes it wants to make, Clash will stay in quickplay rotation, allowing fans to continue enjoying it outside of ranked play.
We've also seen a lot of constructive feedback... it can also be confusing as to which point is active for some players.
