Resident Evil 9 Gets A Sort-Of Mention At Summer Game Fest
"Now, about the latest Resident Evil game you've all been waiting for ... bear with us a little longer, just a blink of an eye more, and it'll be ready."
"We're making a new Resident Evil. It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil] 7, but I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial."
At Summer Game Fest 2025, Capcom announced that a new Resident Evil game is on the way, coinciding with the franchise's 30th anniversary. Executive producer Jun Takeuchi encouraged fans to be patient as they revealed little about the game. The announcement video featured nostalgic imagery and a special performance by voice actress Maggie Robertson. Game director Koshi Nakanishi, who previously directed Resident Evil 7, confirmed the game is substantial and a development priority. Additionally, remakes and a new film adaptation are also confirmed for future releases.
