EA is exploring development of a new college basketball game with work currently in early planning and discovery stages. The company aims to include every Division I men's and women's team, a goal described as a daunting task. The success of EA's recent college football relaunch, which released in July 2024 after an earlier tease and generated over $1 billion in revenue, helped motivate the basketball effort. A tentative 2028–29 season target has been reported but no official release date exists. 2K Sports is also working on reviving its college basketball series.
