With the reveal of The Duskbloods, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki of FromSoftware embraces a new direction in competitive multiplayer gaming. This title focuses on a PvPvE structure, combining player-versus-player elements with challenging environment encounters, a shift from traditional RPGs. The gameplay features Bloodsworn characters with unique abilities designed for multiplayer action. Set in a world that incorporates firearms, players will engage in last-player standing mechanics with varied win conditions. The game continues Miyazaki's legacy of creating tough boss encounters within immersive and competitive scenarios.
Miyazaki states, "I've always found the PvPvE structure very interesting. It allows for a broad range of game-design ideas, while also letting us leverage our experience of designing challenging enemy encounters."
Discussing the game's setting, Miyazaki mentions, "This allows for the depiction of firearms and such, and every character is equipped with some means of attacking from a distance, which I hope players will enjoy."
