The 2025 Swing into Summer event in McLean, VA, hosted by the Alzner Foundation, showcased numerous sports stars who participated in a charity softball game to benefit Fight for Children's Early Access to Sports program. Notable attendees included Capitals and Nationals players, alongside other sports legends. The event underscored the importance of community engagement and sports accessibility for young children in underserved areas, with Alzner expressing his appreciation for the participation of many athletes and their commitment to the cause. Captains Nicklas Backstrom and TJ Oshie led their teams in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere.
The event doesn't work without those guys. We're happy that they're here. I'm hoping, especially for the first timers, once they start playing and see how it’s run, that they really enjoy themselves.
