Logan Thompson, the Capitals' standout goaltender, sustained a significant lower body injury during a collision with Dylan Strome in Game 3 against the Montreal Canadiens. After initially showing signs of distress from head contact, it became apparent that his left leg was primarily affected. Having recently returned from an upper-body injury, Thompson’s absence leaves the Capitals without their star player at a critical time in the postseason. Backup Charlie Lindgren stepped in following the injury, but the team faces uncertainty without their key player as the playoffs progress.
Dylan Strome barreled into Thompson as he failed to stop a shot from Montreal's Juraj Slafkovský. The pair slammed into the net and Thompson remained on the ice.
Charlie Lindgren replaced Thompson in net for the remainder of the game, allowing one goal on five total shots. Clay Stevenson, who the Capitals recalled on April 14, is also available to play.
