Kennedy Center Must Remove Trump's Name, Judge Orders
A federal judge in Washington, DC ordered Donald Trump’s name removed from the Kennedy Center. The judge concluded that the law establishing the Kennedy Center makes clear the Center must be named for President Kennedy and cannot carry any other formal name or public memorial based on the Board’s unilateral decision. The judge stated that Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name and only Congress can change it. The judge also blocked the Kennedy Center from closing this summer for renovations. The ruling limits the Board’s authority regarding naming and affects planned renovation closures.
"Judge Casey Cooper concluded that the law establishing the Kennedy Center "makes crystal clear that the Center is to be named for President Kennedy, and it cannot bear any other formal name or public memorial based on the Board's unilateral say-so.""
""Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it," Judge Cooper added."
"Additionally, Judge Cooper blocked the Kennedy Center from closing this summer for renovations."
