The Washington Wizards executed significant roster changes ahead of the 2025-26 season, adding CJ McCollum, Tre Johnson and Cam Whitmore while moving on from Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey, Marcus Smart and Richaun Holmes. Alex Sarr, the former No. 2 overall pick, used the offseason to represent France and build on a promising Summer League showing. Sarr suffered a calf injury against Slovenia in EuroBasket and will be sidelined for the remainder of the offseason. The Wizards expect him to target readiness for training camp in September but will manage his recovery cautiously due to the risk of further complications from calf injuries.
Alex Sarr took the opportunity to represent his home country France this offseason with the chance to not only continue his development against steep competition, but represent the country he grew up in; a dream that nearly every NBA player dreams about. Following his showing in Summer League, the former No. 2 overall pick made it a point of emphasis to continue attacking the offseason in hopes of positioning himself for a major leap during his sophomore season.
After news released that Sarr suffered a calf injury against Slovenia in EuroBasket play, the decision came that the 7-footer would be sidelined for the rest of the offseason in hopes of being ready when Wizards' training camp begins in September. Sarr being ready for training camp would be great news considering the idea that he may not miss any time at all when he returns to Washington. However, considering the injury itself, the Wizards will need to be cautious with the recovery of Sarr.
