Qualcomm and Google team up to offer 8 years of Android updates
Briefly

Qualcomm and Google have partnered to extend Android device software updates to enhance their longevity, targeting an eight-year support window. This initiative initially applies to devices with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform, including flagship models like the OnePlus 13 and Galaxy S25. Later, it will also encompass newer Snapdragon 8 and 7-series chips. While this provides an opportunity for users to enjoy longer support periods, the commitment primarily favors higher-end devices with expectations of durability, leaving budget models less supported.
Through this collaboration, OEMs can more seamlessly update the software and security on their devices, ensuring a more secure and long-lasting Android experience for our users.
The extended support window only applies to devices with the latest Qualcomm chipsets, marking a significant move toward longer device lifespans.
