Xreal and Google debut aura AR glasses to rival Meta's Orion plan
Briefly

Google has unveiled its plans to enter the augmented reality glasses market by collaborating with Xreal Inc. on Project Aura, the first eyewear equipped with the Android XR operating system. Announced during the Google I/O conference, this initiative aims to compete with products from rivals such as Apple's Vision Pro and Meta's upcoming glasses. Alongside this, Google is also developing non-AR glasses with brands like Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Xreal anticipates a consumer launch for the Aura glasses by early next year at a lower price point than competitors' offerings.
The Aura glasses are expected to launch for consumers between the end of this year and early next year, Xu said.
In an interview, Xreal co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Chi Xu said the Samsung device is Google's response to Apple Inc.'s Vision Pro.
