Their relationship, which began in 1964, flourished for nearly 60 years, marked by love that Parton described as too profound for words. They met outside a Nashville laundromat on her first day in the city. Parton recalled how Dean's genuine interest caught her off guard, leading to a marriage in 1966. Despite her fame, Dean preferred a private life, which Parton respected throughout their years together.
"Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy," Dolly Parton said in her tribute.
"I was in such a hurry to get here. And after I'd put my clothes in the machine, I started walkin' down the street... and this guy hollered at me," Parton recalled.
"He seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about," Parton said of her first encounter with Dean.
"My husband is a loner," Parton once mentioned about Dean's preference for a life away from the spotlight.
