Ingatestone station unveiled a blue plaque to honor Dorothy Wadham, founder of Wadham College at Oxford. This initiative was a collaboration between Greater Anglia and the Essex Women's Commemorative Project. Dorothy, who was born to Sir William Petre, became the first woman outside the royal family to establish a college at Oxford when she founded Wadham in 1613 at the age of 75. The plaque aims to raise awareness of her historical significance and will be officially unveiled on April 16, 2023, by the Lord Lieutenant of Essex.
