Since 2010, the population of female veterans in the nation has increased by 81,000. With the total number of veterans and the number of male veterans decreasing every year, women are making up a larger proportion of the veteran population.
Alaska and Virginia had the highest proportion of female veterans in the nation, with nearly 29 and over 24 female veterans per 1,000 women respectively, while California had around eight female veterans per 1,000 women.
Yuba County in California had the highest ratio of female veterans, followed by Solano and Kings Counties. Other counties in Northern and Central California also showed varying numbers of female veterans.
San Luis Obispo County on the Central Coast had approximately 11 female veterans per 1,000 women, showcasing the distribution of female veterans across different regions in California.
