Hamas releases first group of Israeli hostages to the Red Cross
"Hamas handed over on Monday morning the first seven Israeli hostages who were still being held captive in Gaza to the Red Cross, in the northern part of the enclave. The hostages are Matan Engerst, Alon Ohel, Eitan Mor, Gali and Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, and Guy Gilboa-Dallal. The militia announced Monday morning the list of the 20 living captives it plans to release throughout the day."
"The second group of releases is expected at 9:00 a.m. and will take place in the Khan Younis area, in southern Gaza, where images have shown Palestinian militants preparing to hand over the captives to the Red Cross. Hamas will also hand over around 28 deceased hostages, whose families are waiting only to be able to bury them and begin mourning."
Hamas handed over seven Israeli hostages in northern Gaza to the Red Cross, naming Matan Engerst, Alon Ohel, Eitan Mor, Gali and Ziv Berman, Omri Miran and Guy Gilboa-Dallal. A total of 20 living captives are scheduled for release throughout the day, with a second group expected in Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Around 28 deceased hostages will also be transferred so families can bury them. The Red Cross will receive the hostages and transfer them to the Israeli army for return to Israel, medical assessment and family reunions. Israel will release 1,966 Palestinian prisoners once receipt of the living hostages is confirmed. Between 26 and 28 bodies remain unlocated, making the final recovery process likely to take weeks or months. An agreement signed in Sharm el-Sheikh establishes a mechanism for Israel and Hamas to share information through mediators and the International Committee.
