Hong Kong High Court will deliver a verdict on national security charges against 78-year-old media mogul Jimmy Lai at 10am Hong Kong time (2am GMT). The three judges are Esther Toh, Alex Lee and Susana D'Almada Remedios. Lai has been detained since late 2020, held on remand and serving additional protest-related sentences totalling almost ten years. The trial has lasted more than two years. Charges include one count of conspiracy to publish seditious publications and two counts of conspiracy to foreign collusion under the national security law and a revived colonial-era sedition law. A guilty verdict could carry a life sentence.
