Imports from China grew 2.1%, while exports to China fell 0.5%. Imports from the U.S. grew 11.6%.Exports to the world grew in food, gaining 18%, as well as in ships, growing by nearly 25%. Imports grew in computers, adding nearly 35% on-year, while aircraft rose 21%."
Japan's exports to the United States fell 13.8% year-on-year in August, marking the fifth consecutive monthly decline and worsening from July's 10.1% drop. The decline was driven mainly by weaker auto exports amid elevated U.S. tariffs on Japanese automobiles and auto parts, reduced from 27.5% to 15% but still above the original 2.5%; August reflected the period with higher tariffs. Overall exports slipped 0.1% as shipments to Europe and the Middle East rose. Provisional August data show imports from the world declined 5.2% year-on-year; imports from China rose 2.1% while exports to China fell 0.5%. Food and ship exports rose strongly, while computer and aircraft imports increased markedly.
