"The video of the attack on 2 September was seen by senators behind closed doors on Thursday amid growing concern that the US defence secretary, Pete Hegseth, and other officials who ordered the attack may have committed a war crime. Later on Thursday, the Pentagon announced another deadly strike on a boat suspected of carrying illegal narcotics, killing four men in the eastern Pacific."
A video shows two men who survived a US airstrike on a suspected drug-smuggling boat in the Caribbean clinging to wreckage for about an hour before a second attack killed them. The men were shirtless, unarmed and carried no visible radio or communications equipment and appeared unaware of what had hit them or that the US military was considering a follow-up strike. The pair tried to right a severed hull section but failed and eventually died. The Pentagon announced another strike in the eastern Pacific that killed four men, bringing the campaign to 22 strikes and at least 87 deaths. US Southern Command posted video and described the vessels as linked to illicit narcotics and a Designated Terrorist Organization.
