The pregnant British teenager Bella Culley has been released from a Georgian prison, where she had been held for six months on drug-smuggling charges after a plea deal. Culley, 19, who is pregnant, was arrested in May at Tbilisi airport and accused of attempting to smuggle 12kg (26.5lbs) of marijuana and 2kg (4.4lbs) of hashish into the country. She was found guilty by a Georgian court on Monday and sentenced to five months and 25 days in prison, the total time she had already spent

The pilot of a light aircraft that transported €8.4 million of cocaine into the Midlands from France in 2022 has been convicted by a jury for his role in the drug importation operation.
The inmate, identified as 31-year-old Markeisha Monique Renee Blount, suffered a medical emergency around 6 a.m. on Sept. 29 at the Maple Street Correctional Facility, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Tuesday. Jail personnel administered life-saving measures, including Narcan, but she died at the facility. Detectives determined another inmate brought drugs into the jail and gave them to Blount, the sheriff's office said, adding that "the drugs are believed to have contained fentanyl."
President Donald Trump disclosed Tuesday that the U.S. government had "knocked off" what he said was a total of three alleged drug smuggling boats, all apparently from Venezuela, a country whose leader his administration has villainized while dramatically escalating the use of deadly force in a bid to disrupt the Latin American narcotics trade.
