Pakistan’s interior minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran to meet Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni, with Iranian state media reporting the visit supports efforts to help the US and Iran reach a peace deal. The US and Iran have continued exchanging proposals since a temporary ceasefire agreed last month, while hostilities have not fully stopped and key issues remain unresolved. Saudi Arabia reported intercepting three drones after a drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the UAE, raising concerns about renewed escalation in the Gulf. Naqvi’s visit follows another trip to Iran within a week, and additional meetings with senior Iranian officials were scheduled. Separate reporting said Pakistan’s military chief also visited to narrow gaps between Iranian and US positions, including discussion of an overarching framework, details, and confidence-building measures.
"The visit to Tehran by Pakistan's military chief was reportedly aimed at bringing the Iranian and US positions closer together, Iran's ISNA news agency reported. The Iranian text is being discussed in Tehran regarding the overarching framework, some details and confidence-building measures as guarantees, ISNA reported, adding that the submitted text has narrowed the gaps to some extent, but further reductions require an end to the temptation for war from Washington."
