Japan condemned the incursion of a Chinese military plane into its airspace as a "serious violation of sovereignty," leading to the summoning of a Beijing diplomat for protest.
This is the first confirmed airspace incursion by a Chinese military aircraft since Japan began its measures against such violations, marking an escalation in tensions.
Japan's chief government spokesman, Yoshimasa Hayashi, stated that the incursion "threatens Japan's security" and emphasized the need for preparedness against increasing Chinese military activities.
Hayashi noted that while the government does not have definite information regarding the intentions behind the aircraft's actions, it acknowledges a trend of escalating Chinese military operations near Japan.
