""It's almost like a postcard picture," says designer Harry Nuriev, who has redesigned the place as a family home for himself, his partner, Tyler Billinger, and Tyler's parents."
""We wanted to give it a twist-the Crosby touch," he says with his shy smile."
""We live in an era of infinite data," he explains. "Everything has already been explored. Now, instead of trying to innovate, we are repurposing and reevaluating the things around us.""
A 17th-century stone house on a 130-acre estate near Roccalbegna was redesigned as a multigenerational family home for Harry Nuriev, Tyler Billinger, and Billinger’s parents. The interior combines traditional Tuscan architecture with bold, unexpected design elements drawn from fashion and found objects. Nuriev’s prior work includes furniture made from Balenciaga castoffs, denim-covered pieces, and a carved wood credenza resembling an office printer. Nuriev labels his approach transformism, emphasizing repurposing and reevaluating existing objects rather than pure innovation. The project intended to bridge Californian and Tuscan aesthetics and create playful, contemporary moments within historical spaces.
