colorful aluminum panels ripple across TEN's house for women in bosnia-herzegovina
Briefly

The House for Five Women, located just outside Gradačac in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a transformative housing project by architecture studio TEN. Developed in conjunction with local activists and community organizations, it offers a home to five single women who are survivors of war and displacement. The design prioritizes communal living while maintaining individual privacy through clusters of living units. Designed with colorful aluminum panels, the facade responds dynamically to environmental changes. This project exemplifies collaboration and deep engagement with the local community, crafting a holistic living environment that fosters solidarity and recovery.
The House for Five Women defies conventional housing by embodying care, resilience, and collective authorship, offering a new model for cohabitation for women survivors.
Designed in collaboration with local activists and NGOs, the project provides permanent housing for women who experienced war and systemic neglect while fostering community.
