Harold Hill pub WILL be bulldozed - and a replacement is not guaranteed
Briefly

Last Thursday, Havering Council's strategic planning committee unanimously approved the demolition of the Alderman pub in Chippenham Road as part of the Harold Hill town center redevelopment. Despite worries about provisions for elderly residents who rely on the pub for social interaction, officials promised a temporary venue could be opened nearby. There are intentions for a permanent pub in the new development, but assurance of its actual establishment remains uncertain, highlighting the community's concerns about losing local amenities.
"It would be a shame to see another public house gone, especially in Harold Hill. Unfortunately, there are far too many of them now that are in need of repair and we have got to save as many as we can."
"There's a legal agreement being put on this application that they would include it. What we can't say today is that there will be a pub operating there in four or five years time because we don't know whether someone will be happy to take it on."
