iridescent panels evoking gemstones refract shifting hues at BBWORKSPACE's thailand cafe
Briefly

BBWORKSPACE's café extension known as The Facets, located in Chiang Mai, uses vibrant, iridescent panels that dynamically reflect colors with light changes throughout the day. This architectural intervention, situated within a gemstone trade district, encapsulates the beauty and tactile qualities of gemstones, translating them into a sensory experience. The original structure, preserved and enhanced with glass blocks, contrasts with a new addition featuring dichroic acrylic panels. Inside, textured surfaces and polished elements recreate the journey of gemstones from their natural state to fine jewelry, offering patrons a one-of-a-kind environment.
The design echoes the structured clarity of a cut gem, creating an immersive experience that reflects the optical and tactile properties of gemstones.
The dual volumes of the café create an interplay between preserved historical structure and a new, vibrant extension that changes color with the sunlight.
