Phoenix House, a restored early 1900s Queenslander in Brisbane, reflects personal renewal and community connection. After facing devastating storms and challenges, the project emerged as a collaboration of friends and professionals, creatively repurposing salvaged materials in a sustainable manner. Located near historical landmarks, the house utilizes its elevated position for functional storage and eco-friendly systems. Striking design elements like a skylight and expansive views promote openness and simplicity, resulting in a three-bedroom home that enhances community ties while embodying resilience and creativity.
'Our studio approached the house like a 'remix album.' We stripped it to its core, cataloged the salvageable pieces, and reimagined their use in a sustainable, puzzle-like assembly.'
'The veranda serves as a bridge between home and community, fostering connection.'
