Retreat House / Arii Irie Architects
Briefly

Situated in a narrow gap between a typical house and an apartment, this 2.5-meter-wide home in Tokyo incorporates a central storage area that facilitates an open plan. By eliminating doors and utilizing shifted floors, the design enhances connectivity between spaces, addressing prior communication challenges faced by the client. The intentional minimalism of the interior creates a serene retreat, allowing natural light to play a key role while providing a tranquil escape from the consumer-driven world outside, effectively transforming the perception of limited space.
The design features a 2.5-meter-wide house with a central storage area that creatively separates and connects rooms, promoting communication and flexibility in usage.
