Shells + Seafoam: Calico's New Wallpapers Are a Coastal Dream
Briefly

Calico Wallpaper introduced a new trio of wallpapers called Lucine, Abalone, and Coralline, inspired by the ocean's quiet beauty. Designed by Rachel Cope, each wallpaper uniquely reflects elements of the seaside experience. Lucine captures light reflections on water, Abalone mirrors wave movements, and Coralline mimics coral reef textures. The designs incorporate real abalone shells and coral collected by Cope, forming intricate collages. The wallpapers embody a blend of ethereal and grounded aesthetics, aiming to bring the soothing essence of the ocean into interior spaces. Various colorways enhance the collections' diverse representations of coastal themes.
Each design is a love letter to the coastline, inspired by Cope's time spent in and near the waters.
To capture the natural beauty of these oceanic landscapes, the studio used real abalone shells and coral fragments Cope had collected on her travels.
Lucine preserves the ephemeral moments of light dancing across water with soft gradients and pearlescent tones, while Abalone channels the gentle motion of waves.
Coralline offers a glimpse into the world hidden underwater, echoing the texture and structure of coral reefs.
