Located on a lakeside platform in Central Park, Huqiao, Kunshan, Jiangsu, the site previously contained an aging sunshade pavilion. The pavilion's limited functionality led to the space being overlooked despite its prime setting. The intervention introduces a lightweight, flexible design to reactivate the platform and encourage prolonged use. The approach prioritizes simplicity, adaptability, and visual lightness to make the area inviting and accessible. Materials, seating patterns, and spatial sequencing are organized to support a variety of activities without imposing heavy permanence. The design aims to create a comfortable pause point that supports lingering and social interaction at the lakefront.
