This 1918 NYC Apartment Bathroom Goes from "Crumbly Mess" to Colorful Charm
Briefly

Abby Starobin's experience in her Brooklyn apartment highlighted the discrepancies often found when renting. What appeared vintage and charming during her initial tour masked a decade of neglect, particularly in the bathroom. Abby detailed the unfortunate state - where tiles were detached and grime covered surfaces. Determined to improve her space, she undertook a DIY makeover, which included deep cleaning and caulking, finding joy and creativity in the challenge, even if it was often unpleasant. Her transformative efforts resulted in a more appealing and personal bathroom.
When it comes to renting, sometimes what you see isn't ultimately what you get. DIYer Abby Starobin found this out the hard way when she moved into her 480-square-foot 1918 Brooklyn apartment.
The bathroom... hadn't been maintained in over a decade. It was absolutely disgusting. The floor tiles were detached from the floor and created a crumbly mess.
Abby transformed her old, gross bathroom into a peachy, personality-filled haven. Phase one involved giving it a deep clean.
Removing the old caulk was probably the most disgusting thing I've ever done. I swear there were entire ecosystems with their own germs.
