Tour a Midcentury-Modern Tree House in LA With a Sophisticated Update
Briefly

A simple short project to remodel a guest bathroom led to a complete transformation of a 1960s split-level home in Los Angeles. Over two years, designer Linette Dai reimagined the space to reflect the owners’ sophisticated tastes and love for vintage pieces. The objective was to curate and edit their collection while ensuring the home captured their individuality with a balance of whimsy. Dai’s design philosophy prioritizes the personality of the inhabitants and emphasizes the balance of contrasting elements within the space.
"While the couple has great taste - they've always loved vintage and have collected pieces over the years - they weren't sure how to pull it all together themselves."
"The approach first and foremost is that every home should be of a portrait of the inhabitants," muses Dai.
"My style is more defined by philosophies and concepts over aesthetics," she explains.
Dai sought to create a home that was sophisticated, well-tailored to their tastes, and reflective of their individuality, while still balanced with a touch of whimsy.
