Swell Maps were a punk band, but only because that word meant something different when they started making records in 1977. The Austin-based indie-pop band lived a whole life between 2005 and 2010. Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Ramesh Srivastava had gone off to college in Scotland and brought back UK influences that were still trendy in the wake of Belle & Sebastian and Camera Obscura: the Smiths, Orange Juice, the C86 tape, Sarah Records.

London band Sorry dropped two new songs today, "Billy Elliot" and "Alone In Cologne." The former premiered on BBC 6Music this morning, and the latter was released shortly after. Listen to both, out now on Domino, below.

When director Emerald Fennell needed to hire a musician to score her Wuthering Heights adaptation, only one person came to mind: Charli XCX. Not only did the British pop star accept the offer, but she used her soundtrack to capture love in all of its grandiose, moody, and elusive ways. As she described the soundtrack on her Substack, it's a "dive into persona, into a world that felt undeniably raw, wild, sexual, gothic, British, tortured and full of actual real sentences, punctuation and grammar."

'Cool Job' pulls from meme culture pastiche and 'Temporary Secretary' trope to skewer the fantasy that the right job will save your life. Written mid-burnout, it's an anti-work anthem about corporate rot, identity collapse, and trying to care about meetings that could have been emails while everything else is falling apart.

It's wild that we will be celebrating 15 years of our first record this spring - we are so lucky to have had the stars align meeting one another and creating art in those early days - we are looking forward to reflecting and celebrating the moments of coming together for the first time in real time with all of you! It's going to be a show unlike anything we've ever done. We are also so grateful and feel that the stars have aligned with having the Brudi Brothers out opening up each show in these intimate theater settings ! See you this spring!!!!

In the space of 10 days, both men's fathers died, and the second visit took on an air of somber pilgrimage. Albarn swam in the Ganges, scattered his father's ashes into its mythology. Somewhere along the way, he settled on a concept for The Mountain, the follow-up to 2023's pallid Cracker Island.

The first, "JCMF," is a rebellious song about Jesus punishing those who are cruel and helping the children upon his return, while the second single, "No More Darkness," calls for a return to the light and a pursuit of goodness. In a press release, Sparhawk explained that "JCMF" is an older track that he's played on the road for the past year.

Wet Leg have gotten The Dare to remix "mange tout," one of the standouts from their excellent 2025 album moisturizer. When the band hit the scene, there were a lot of comparisons to the mid-'00s UK indie scene that gave us Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand, and The Dare is basically milking the whole DFA scene from the same era.
