Oakland and the East Bay are in for heavy rain and damaging winds Wednesday night and into Thursday night, with up to 2.5 inches of rain expected along the San Pablo Ridge and wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour forecast around the eastern bayshore in the next 24 hours. East Bay resident and Dilbert cartoonist turned racist podcaster Scott Adams put out a direct plea to President Trump on Sunday to help him get a specific cancer treatment at Kaiser Permanente, and both Trump and RFK Jr. responded. Adams, who has metastatic prostate cancer, says he is "declining fast" and claims that Kaiser "dropped the ball" in scheduling him for a new radioactive drug treatment.

The high-pressure system forming isn't the same as the type that creates record-breaking heat, but it will still likely push the marine layer farther out to sea, allowing for offshore winds to bring hotter days to the region.

But for Bonita Hudson, it was her second flight of the day. The first was about noon from a roughly 400-foot altitude; the second came with her boyfriend, Jarred Bonaparte, at sunset from the "Cheetah" launch site, at 180-foot elevation. The Pacifica paragliding pilots have been flying for 16 and 12 years, respectively, they say. "I got into paragliding 16 years ago.
